The ''Ryûkyû kankei monjo'' are a collection of [[Edo period]] [[Satsuma han|Kagoshima domain]] records relating to the [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryûkyû Kingdom]]. Held by the [[University of Tokyo]] [[Shiryohensanjo|Historiographical Institute]] (''Shiryôhensanjo''), they comprise 18 volumes of documents selected out of the ''[[Shimazu-ke monjo]]'' ("Documents of the [[Shimazu clan|Shimazu House]]").

The ''Ryûkyû kankei monjo'' (lit. "Documents Related to Ryûkyû") are a collection of [[Edo period]] [[Satsuma han|Kagoshima domain]] records relating to the [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryûkyû Kingdom]]. Held by the [[University of Tokyo]] [[Shiryohensanjo|Historiographical Institute]] (''Shiryôhensanjo''), they comprise 18 volumes of documents selected out of the ''[[Shimazu-ke monjo]]'' ("Documents of the [[Shimazu clan|Shimazu House]]").

 

A separate selection from the vast body of Kagoshima domain records held by the Historiographical Institute, known as the ''Ryûkyû gaikoku kankei monjo'' 琉球外国関係文書 ("Documents of Relations between Ryûkyû and Foreign Countries"), collects documents pertaining to the Ryûkyû Kingdom's contacts with Westerners, including individuals from England, France, the Netherlands, Russia, and the United States, among others, in the 1840s-1850s.
