  • Japanese: 庄内藩 (Shounai han)

Shônai han was an Edo period domain in Dewa province.

In 1840/11, the Tokugawa shogunate ordered that the lords of Shônai would be transferred to Nagaoka domain in Echigo province. However, peasant uprisings in Shônai convinced the shogunate to retract the relocation order. A local Tsurugaoka innkeeper named Kamoya Bunji collected records of the anti-transfer protests and had them compiled into a set of painted scrolls entitled Yume no ukihashi (Floating Bridge of Dreams).[1]
