A tonkori on display at the Metropolitan Museum
  • Japanese: トンコリ (tonkori)

The tonkori is a traditional Ainu stringed instrument.

Traditionally used for ritual dances, the instrument typically has a star-shaped sound hole, within which is a ball which is considered the instrument's "soul."
