  • Japanese: 先手旗本 (sakite hatamoto)

Sakite hatamoto, or "messenger bannermen," were hatamoto who served as messengers and go-betweens in communicating between a given daimyô and the Tokguawa shogunate.

Each daimyô was served by a group of dedicated sakite hatamoto who handled a great proportion of the communications and negotiations between that daimyô and the shogunate.
