- Japanese: 隠し目付 (kakushi metsuke)
Kakushi metsuke, or "secret inspectors", were shogunate officials sent to secretly observe conditions in a daimyô domain (han) while other officials, formally received and shown around by domain officials, engaged in an inspection tour of the domain.
