Hokke-ji is a Shingon Ritsu Buddhist nunnery in Nara. It was originally established in the 8th century by Empress Kômyô, on the site of the mansion of her father, Fujiwara no Fuhito. It was for a long time a state-sponsored nunnery, the chief nunnery of Yamato Province.

The temple's name appears in the record for the first time in the 747 Shôsôin bunsho.
