- 1905/9 Yamamoto Kanae, Ishii Hakutei, Ishii Tsuruzô, and a few others found the magazine Heitan.
- 1905/9/5-7 Hibiya Riots: The people of Tokyo riot in protest of the results of peace negotiations following the end of the Russo-Japanese War. This marks possibly the first major urban riots of the modern period.
- 1905/11 The word hanga (版画), meaning "prints", is first coined, appearing in the magazine Heitan.

- 1905/10/22 Admiral Tôgô Heihachirô participates in a triumphal victory parade held in conjunction with his journey from Shinbashi Station to the Tokyo Imperial Palace to formally report to the Emperor on his victory and triumphal return. The Emperor receives him in the palace, wearing a naval uniform (rather than an army uniform) for the first time.
- 1905/10/23 From the deck of the battleship Asama, the Meiji Emperor performs a formal military review of two hundred warships anchored in Tokyo Bay, comprising nearly the entirety of the Imperial Japanese Navy, including five submarines, as well as several warships captured from China and Russia.
- 1905/12/7 A grand triumphal victory parade is held featuring Field Marshal Ôyama Iwao.
