Abe Goradaiyu was a disciple of Taisha Ryu who sought to create a style which focused on mental and moral traning rather than the that of become precise in physical technigue. He was the first to use the term ken no michi (kendo), or way of the sword. His is thought to be the oldest kendo ryu.
