He died in 1284 at the age of 34, three years after the final attempted Mongol invasion. Hôjô Tokimune was the Hôjô regent during the Mongol Invasions, his regency extending from 1268 - 1284. He died in 1284 at the age of 34, three years after the final attempted Mongol invasion. He was succeeded by his 14 year old son, Hôjô Sadatoki.
