Go-Uda was an emperor of the Kamakura period. He succeeded his father Emperor Kameyama to the throne in 1274, but in 1287 was pressured by the Kamakura shogunate to abdicate the throne in favor of a cousin who then took the throne as Emperor Fushimi. This marked the beginning of alternating succession between the so-called Daikakuji and Jimyôin lines of imperial descent, with Kameyama and Go-Uda belonging to the Daikakuji line.
Both failed Mongol invasions of Japan took place during Go-Uda's reign.
