Emperor Hanazono was an emperor of the late Kamakura period, reigning from 1308 to 1318.
He supported the establishment of Daitoku-ji temple in 1315, founded by imperial tutor Daitô Kokushi.[1]
The first prominent lectures on the Neo-Confucian teachings of Zhu Xi to take place in Japan may have taken place during the reign of Emperor Hanazono, or of his successor, Emperor Go-Daigo.
