*Reign: c. 1042-1006 BCE

King Cheng of Zhou was the son of King Wu, and the second king of China's Zhou Dynasty.

He succeeded his father to the throne at a young age, and for the first seven years of his reign, Cheng's uncle the Duke of Zhou served as regent. Two or three of the Duke's brothers (who were also thus brothers of King Wu) rebelled against him, allying themselves with the descendants of the rulers of the Shang Dynasty, which the Zhou had succeeded. The Duke of Zhou fled in the face of their threat, returning later once the brothers had been captured and his reputation restored.
