Shimazu Tadatake is known as the father of the famous [[Atsuhime]]. The grandson of [[Chima no kata]], concubine to [[Shimazu Shigehide]], he was adopted into the [[Imaizumi clan|Imaizumi Shimazu house]], and succeeded his adoptive father to become the head of the family. He then married a relative of that family, with whom he had a daughter, Atsuhime, who would go on to marry Shogun [[Tokugawa Iesada]].
