Umekichi Asahina

Umekichi Asahina was among the first boatloads of Japanese immigrants to Hawaii, arriving in the islands in 1885. He went on to become the first Japanese dentist to operate in the islands, and was active in kendô and kyûdô, founding a kendô club in the islands in 1902.
