He was working as security guard in Yokohama foreign residencial area.
In [[1864]], he joined [[Shinsengumi]] with [[Ito Kashitaro]].
In [[1867]], he left Shinsengumi and joined [[Goryo Eji]].
He survived from the [[Incident at Aburano Koji]] and later he and other survivers attacked [[Kondo Isami]] on the Fushimi street.
He fought in the [[Boshin war]] under the [[Satsuma han]] troops.
After [[Meiji Restoration]], he surved for the new government.
He died in [[1911]] as a Christian.
He left a memoir "Hata Shigechika Nikki"(秦林親日記).
