Kôbu Gattai means marital tie between the imperial family and the shogunate .
It was a political theory in Bakumatsu.
In 1861, Shogun [[Tokugawa Iemochi|Iemochi]] married to [[Princess Kazunomiya]] who was sister of [[Emperor Komei]].
But the Kôbu Gattai marriage didn't last very long because Iemochi and the Emperor died in 5 years later.
