Tamura Akikage was a [[Tokugawa shogunate]] official who served in a number of ''[[bugyo|bugyô]]'' positions across the [[Bakumatsu period]]. Appointed ''[[Machi bugyo|Kyoto machi bugyô]]'' sometime before [[1846]], he was reassigned to the position of ''[[Sakuji bugyo|Sakuji bugyô]]'' in that year. He was then named ''[[Kanjo bugyo|Kanjô bugyô]]'' in [[1853]], and was promoted to ''[[metsuke|Ômetsuke]]'' and reassigned to the position of''[[karo|karô]]'' of the [[Tayasu Tokugawa clan|Tayasu family]] in [[1855]].
In [[1860]], he was appointed ''Nishinomaru rusui''.
