Nakayû was a man from [[Tokunoshima]] who, along with his father Nakatame, helped [[Saigo Takamori|Saigô Takamori]] during his exile on that island.
In [[1866]], Nakayû received permission to travel with Saigô to [[Kyoto]], but then died sometime after arriving there. He is buried at the Saigô Family Cemetery in [[Kagoshima]].
