*Chinese: 僧伽 (Sengqie)
Sengqie was a Buddhist monk from Central Asia who lived c. 660-710. Known for establishing a temple in Sizhou (in what is now Anhui province) on the southern shore of the Huai River, Sengqie came to be known as the Monk of Sizhou and posthumously came to be regarded as an incarnation of the bodhisattva Guanyin.
