Mori Ransai was a mid-[[Edo period]] painter of the [[Nagasaki school]].
He traveled to [[Nagasaki]] in [[1760]] to study painting, and there studied [[Qing Dynasty|Qing-style]] [[birds and flowers painting]] under [[Noshiro Shuko|Noshiro Shûkô]], a direct student [[Shen Nanpin]].
Mori later entered the service of the [[Maeda clan]] of [[Kaga domain]] as a court painter. He also had a collection of his designs published as ''Ransai gafu''.
He died in [[Edo]] in [[1801]].
