Toyotake Wakadayû was the founder of the [[Takemoto school]] of ''gidayû'' chanting and shamisen, a significant contribution to the development of ''[[ningyo joruri|ningyô jôruri]]'' (puppet theatre).
He was a student of [[Takemoto Gidayu|Takemoto Gidayû]], and the founder of the [[Takemoto-za]] theatre.
