Hisayasu was the eldest son of [[Shimazu Yoshihiro]]. He was introduced to [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi]] and was present for the [[Odawara Campaign]] ([[1590]]). He accompanied his father on the [[First Korean Campaign]] but fell ill and died in 1593.

Shimazu Hisayasu was the eldest son of [[Shimazu Yoshihiro]]. Since his uncle, [[Shimazu Yoshihisa]], had no heir, he adopted Hisayasu to be his heir. After the [[Shimazu clan]] submitted to the authority of [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi]] in [[1587]], Hideyoshi granted Morokata district in [[Hyuga province|Hyûga province]] to Hisayasu as his fief, but then also took Hisayasu to [[Kyoto]] as a hostage. There, he was married to Yoshihisa's daughter [[Shimazu Kameju]].

 

Hisayasu then led Shimazu forces in the [[Odawara Campaign]] of [[1590]]. He accompanied his father in Hideyoshi's [[Korea Invasions|first invasion of Korea]] but fell ill and died in [[1593]] in Geoje.
