Princess Yamashina Hisako was a daughter of [[Shimazu Tadayoshi]], 29th head of the [[Shimazu clan]]. She was born and raised at the Shimazu clan's Iso Palace ([[Sengan'en]]) in [[Kagoshima]], and married Imperial [[Prince Yamashina Kikumaro]].
Following her death, some of her teeth and hair were buried at a gravesite at the Sengan'en.
