Kishimoto Gashô was one of [[Okinawa prefecture|Okinawa prefecture's]] first two elected representatives to the [[National Diet]] House of Representatives, along with [[Takamine Chokyo|Takamine Chôkyô]].

He and Takamine, along with [[Jahana Noboru]], [[Ota Chofu|Ôta Chôfu]], and [[Nakijin Choban|Nakijin Chôban]], were the first five Okinawan students sponsored by the [[Meiji government]] to study in [[Tokyo]].

He later served as head of educational affairs for Okinawa prefecture, and was elected to the House of Representatives four times. In 1925, he became the third modern mayor of [[Naha]] City.
