''Tenchô setsu'' was a holiday established in [[1868]] as a national holiday in honor of the birthday of the [[Meiji Emperor]].
Stripped of its ''tennôsei'' / Emperor Cult connotations in the postwar period, the day continues to be a national holiday, albeit under the name "Culture Day" (''bunka no hi'').
