Sugi Kuhee was a [[Kamigata]] [[kabuki]] actor of the [[Genroku]] period, specializing in playing the roles of older women (such an actor was called a ''kashagata''). He is known as one of the chief authors of the ''[[Yakusha rongo]]'' ("Actors' Analects"), and as one of the teachers of [[Sakata Tojuro I|Sakata Tôjûrô I]].
