Sôreki was a [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryukyuan]] scholar-aristocrat known for his prodigious calligraphy abilities.
He served as a member of [[tribute]] missions to China on several occasions, as well as on at least one [[Ryukyuan mission to Edo]], that undertaken in [[1714]] in honor of King [[Sho Kei|Shô Kei]].
He later changed his name from Sôreki to Sôshin.
