This branch of the Uesugi controlled the heart of the [[Kanto]] plain and fought against the encroaching [[Hojo clan|Hôjô]] until their defeat at [[Battle of Kawagoe|Kawagoe]] in [[1545]] broke their strength and eventually led to their elimination.
