After [[Oda Nobunaga|Nobunaga's]] death he served [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi|Hideyoshi]] and received a 50,000 koku fief at Takamai in [[Tamba province]] and was tasked with laying the groundwork for [[Fushimi castle]] in [[1592]]. He was named one of the Five Bugyô (magistrates) by Hideyoshi before the latter's death.
