Yoshiyasu held [[Fukushima castle]] in the Kiso region of Shinano. He assisted a number of other Shinano warlords in their attempts to contain [[Takeda Shingen]] of [[Kai province|Kai]]. When this coalition failed, Yoshiyasu continued to resist Shingen until he was forced to surrender his castle of Fukushima in [[1554]], at which point he became a [[Takeda clan]] vassal.
