Motonobu was a son of [[Okabe Hisatsuna]] and a younger brother of [[Okabe Masatsuna]]. He was at first a retainer of [[Imagawa Ujizane]] but joined the Takeda after the fall of the Imagawa in [[1569]]. He was installed in [[Takatenjin castle]] in [[Totomi province|Tôtômi province]] and when Takatenjin fell to the [[Tokugawa clan|Tokugawa]] in [[1581]], Motonobu was killed.
