Jump to navigationJump to searchEmperor Xianzong was the son of Emperor Shunzong of Tang, and took the throne less than a year after his father succeeded Emperor Dezong of Tang. His reign is known for reestablishing institutional power of the central imperial government, and the reassertion of Tang authority over several provinces which had been lost to other powers.
Xianzong's death at the hands of palace eunuchs, however, is also taken as marking a significant rise in the power of the eunuchs at court.
