He was Nanbu han samurai. He practiced Shinto Ryu in Morioka and Hokushin Itto Ryu in Edo. He left from Nanbu han and joined the Shinsengumi in 1865. Despite of he was Kenjutsu teacher in the Shinsengumi, there is not much records that he involved battles. But his name was seen on some of records as a negotiator.
