:Ah, I see - for something like "Kenjutsu" I would assume we'd be able to build a fairly large article (although it would be general, like "Ninjutsu", "Karate", etc.), a description of what it is, what it means, examples, the history, maybe even contemporary Kenjutsu as well. It is a type of discipline, so there should be a lot of info on it. I'm up for more input, so I'll post a question on the task force page as well. --Kitsuno 20:30, 24 November 2006 (PST)

Let me know if the detail that I'm giving is what you want.  I'm trying to watch the diffs you make incorporating that into future articles. --JLBadgley 11:25, 27 May 2007 (PDT)

Users that need to be blocked
I looked through a section of the userlist to see what users had not followed the directions, and here's a partial list of those that need to be blocked: user:Xm4514, User:XXVII, User:Wolfpanzer, User:Windwalker, User:Wild tiger, User:Wild falcon, User:Vergo, User:Vartal, User:Vamo20, User:Tudeski, User:Toshu, User:Tokyodog, User:Toho, User:Thralls, User:The samurai, User:TIKIDIXY, User:Sweet.thang77, User:Sverv, User:Suki, User:Stretch4859, User:StreetsSamurai, User:Slevin, User:Sleepy, User:ShowGun, Nagaeyari 10:00, 11 January 2007 (PST)

:I've added the contributor access controls, so rather than blocking users, you just need to update the verification stuff on the front page and make sure all the people who are already contributing get set up so they can continue doing so. Random people that sign up can be effectively ignored, since they can't do anything but read. --Kryo 11:20, 16 January 2007 (PST)

Manga
I created a Manga subcategory to Fiction Books and posted a test article.  Looking through the books that have been added so far, there does not seem to be an established format for publication information.  Has an official decree about this been made? :The Vagabond article has been moved to Vagabond (Manga) as requested.  I'll continue using the same citation format.  The reason I asked was because shikisoku uses a bulleted format not used by other folks. Ashigaru 22:19, 23 January 2007 (PST)

Do you know when he died? I'd be curious, as none of my sources say very much about him at all. He was imprisoned in Vietnam in 1600-01, and perhaps later than that, as Nguyen Hoang communicated with not-quite-yet-Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu about what to do with him. :No, it looks like I misread the article - I thought he was the one killed in 1599. But it looks like his "contributions" to history fell in the sengoku period, which is why I removed the edo period tag.  I know who I can ask, but I think he's in Japan right now so I'm not sure how long it will take for him to get back to me.  --Kitsuno 12:09, 21 June 2007 (PDT)

Sorry, minor format issue: The Help:Misc page indicates that "When the article name is mixed (a proper noun followed by a regular noun), only capitalize the first word", yet you've moved Edo period to Edo Period and Chinzei bugyo to Chinzei Bugyo. (I suppose that whether or not "bugyo" is a proper noun is somewhat debateable) "XXX han", "XXX clan" and "XXX castle" still use the lowercase for the second word... Just curious what the philosophy is here, so I can do it right and make less work for you in future. Thanks. LordAmeth 12:43, 28 June 2007 (PDT)

:I'll change the wording - basically "objects" that there are a lot of (clans, castles, provinces, hans) - I'll just create a list on the help page.  Titles are capitalized (unless there is a "no" in it). There are still a few things that aren't decided (i.e. Kodai-in vs. Kodai-In) - the main problem is with the software itself - if the second word is capitalized, all links have to be capitalized, and if they are lower case, all links have to be lower case. It was that mess that caused this semi-arbitrary capitalization in the first place.  Best thing to do is to look at other similar articles.  --Kitsuno 13:10, 28 June 2007 (PDT)

Name Usage
 +
Quick question--for things like Mori Nagasada, would you prefer to use the adult name (Family name and nanori) as the base article, or do you want to use the more popular name (in this case a childhood name, it seems--Mori Ranmaru).  It looks like this name is more popular (I did a quick Japanese Wiki search--it seems that he and his brothers who were pages to Oda Nobunaga are best remembered for that role, and are thus remembered by their childhood names; at least, that's my conjecture).  - JLBadgley 16:48, 7 November 2007 (PST)

:Use the name that is at the top of the article in the dictionary, in this case Mori Ranmaru, since that is the only commonly used name for him, and as far as I know, that is what he was mainly known as.  I'll move the article now. It's like Sanada Yukimura - that wasn't his commonly used name in history, but no one is going to know him by any other name now. --Kitsuno 16:54, 7 November 2007 (PST)

Kanji Pages
 +
"...add the kanji to the fujiwara kanji page rather than (or before) creating a bunch of kanji pages without the kanji."  I'm trying to understand what you mean.  Do you mean create a page (e.g. 藤原 (Fujiwara) ), then add the various names--or are you talking about finding the kanji for the people who are listed on that page and making sure we have that kanji before we put their name on the kanji page?  Sorry, new concept--trying to understand how best to use it.  --JLBadgley 21:31, 29 November 2007 (PST)

Refence lists for Kukishin ryu
 +
 +
Hi!
 +
 +
I originally created the Kukishin ryu article (this version) over at Wikipedia. The way to format citation is a great deal different there (that is, I don't know of any easy code to do it with yet). I was using the reflist tag in the original...is there something like that here that you know of, or does it have to all be done manually? If you would be so kind to throw me a link to some tags and formatting, I would be greatly appreciated. For now I am just going to put them in by hand.

It's 99% Steve Delaney's and my work (from the time I posted it here) from Wikipedia. Yes, I am very aware about the formatting! It's coming, be patient with me please :).
