Ran is an amateur historian with a strong interest in Japanese history. He has had several articles, books and even games published covering the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. Ran is also the founder of the Russo-Japanese War Research Society and has acted as a consultant to the History Channel for the series “Global View” and to PBS for the documentary “Sinking the Supership” about the IJN Yamato.
