Nobuyasu was the eldest son of [[Tokugawa Ieyasu|Ieyasu]]. He was said to have been a capable fighter and was present at the [[Battle of Nagashino]] in [[1575]]. He was accused of plotting against [[Oda Nobunaga]] in 1579 and was confined to Ohama and then Futamata. At the insistence of Nobunaga, Ieyasu ordered him to commit suicide. Prior to his death, Nobuyasu had been the keeper of Okazaki in [[Mikawa province]]. He was also said to have had a cruel nature and was not popular.
