Yoshitora was a son of [[Shimazu Sanehisa]] and succeeded his father in [[1553]]. He served [[Shimazu Takahisa]] and [[Shimazu Yoshihisa|Yoshihisa]] with distinction, in particular during the confrontation with the [[Ryuzoji clan|Ryûzôji]] at [[Battle of Okinawadate|Okinawadate]] in [[1584]]. Yoshitora was a son of Shimazu Sanehisa and succeeded his father in 1553. He served Shimazu Takahisa and Yoshihisa with distinction, in particular during the confrontation with the Ryûzôji at Okinawadate in 1584. Yoshitora was at times referred to as Sashu Yoshitora in light of his leadership of that branch of the Shimazu.
