Shimazu Tadahiro was the final lord of Sadowara han.

The son of Shimazu Tadayuki and his wife Yori-hime (Zuishin-in), Tadahiro became lord of Sadowara in 1839 at the young age of 12, when his father died suddenly at Kusatsu on the way to Edo.

Tadahiro's third son Shimazu Keijirô studied in the United States for about seven years in the 1860s-70s, and played a notable role in both the Freedom and People's Rights Movement (Jiyû minken undô) and the Satsuma Rebellion, in which he was killed.
