The book 血誠新撰組-峻烈壬生浪士忠と斬 says that when Ibaraki tried to leave the Shinsengumi he was killed (斬殺) by [[Oishi Kuwajiro]]. But I think there are questions about this - what do your book sources say about what happened to him? The book 血誠新撰組-峻烈壬生浪士忠と斬 says that when Ibaraki tried to leave the Shinsengumi he was killed (新撰組の大石鍬次郎らに斬殺された). But it goes on to say that his grave states that he committed suicide.
