Nobumasu was a younger brother of Oda Nobunaga and a well-known tea-master. He entered the service of Hideyoshi following Nobunaga's death and he later supported Tokugawa Ieyasu during the Sekigahara Campaign (1600), and led some 450 men at the battle. He joined the defenders of Osaka castle in 1614, though he survived the siege and retired from active life. He died in Kyoto on the 13th day of the 12th month of 1621.
