Yoshinobu, a long-standing [[Matsudaira clan|Matsudaira]]/[[Tokugawa clan|Tokugawa]] retainer, held Hamamatsu for [[Tokugawa Ieyasu]]. During the [[Battle of Mikatagahara]] he gave his life so that his lord might escape the advancing [[Takeda clan|Takeda]] army by rushing into their ranks pretending to be Ieyasu.
