Nakasone Shôzan was a court painter in the service of the [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryûkyû Kingdom]].

Originally from [[Shuri]], he was appointed official court painter to the royal court in [[1865]]. He is known for his views of the capital, including a painting of [[Shuri castle]] today held by the Okinawa Prefectural Museum, and an accordion book of illustrations of the "Customs and Manners of Okinawa" (''Okinawa fûzoku no zu'') in the University of Hawaii collection.
