Keiin was a Japanese [[Zen]] monk from the Kyoto monastery of [[Shokoku-ji|Shôkoku-ji]], who was invited by King [[Sho Taikyu|Shô Taikyû]] (r. [[1454]]-[[1461]]) of the [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryûkyû Kingdom]] to travel to Ryûkyû, where he founded the temple [[Tenkai-ji]], and composed the inscription for Shô Taikyû's famous [[Bridge of Nations Bell]].
