Kashii Shrine

  • Japanese: 香椎宮 (kashii guu)

Kashii Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Fukuoka associated with Emperor Chûai and with connections to Korea.

Emperor Chûai's coffin is said to have been suspended in a beech tree (shii) following his death; the shrine takes its name from this event.
