Yoshitaka was the second son of Hatakeyama Yoshitsuna and was apparently sent to the Nihonmatsu-Hatakeyama for adoption. In 1574 he was established assumed control as the 11th head of the Noto Hatakeyama but was overthrown by the Cho clan and others. He died suddenly in 1576.
