Gushikawa gusuku (Itoman)

  • Type: Okinawan gusuku
  • Status: Ruins
  • Japanese: 具志川(Gushikawa gusuku)

Gushikawa gusuku is an Okinawan fortress located on a cliff at Kyan-misaki in the city of Itoman in southern Okinawa. It is believed to have been founded by a lord (anji) of a fortress by the same name on the island of Kumejima.

The fortress is surrounded by the sea on three sides; the main gate, constructed of cut stone, faces to the east. Walls of uncut piled rocks divide the site into two enclosures. A natural cavern within the grounds connects directly to the ocean.
