Abe was pupil of Tani Mantaro dojo. He jojined the Shinsengumi in 1863 and left next year. But he joined the Shinsengumi again in 1865. In 1867, he joined Goryo Eji. He survived from the Incident at Aburano Koji, and fought under Satsuma han during the Boshin War. After the Meiji Restration, he ran orchards in Hokkaido.

It is believed that he killed Yasutomi Saisuke in Edo.
