Inoue Genzaburo

Inoue Genzaburo was born into a family of Hachioji Sennin Doshin as the third son of Inoue Touzaemon. He became a pupil of Tennen Rishin Ryu in 1847 and received Menkyo in 1860. He effectively supported Kondo Isami in the Shinsengumi, they had great trust in each other.

Genzaburo was killed during the Battle of Yodo-Senryomatsu in 1868. His nephew Inoue Taisuke, tried to take his head and sword, but they were too heavy, so he buried them in a temple on the way to Osaka. They have yet to be found.

Inoue Genzaburo and Okita Soji were relatives.
