Shinsengumi Timeline

I have created a seperate page for the Shinsengumi Timeline, and I used a Wikipedia trick to display that article seamlessly inside the Shinsengumi article. For anyone curious, I put this in the article:

{{:Shinsengumi Timeline}}

That puts the text from another article inside the article you are working on. If you want to add dates or events to the timeline, you can do it either way, you can edit the Shinsengumi Timeline directly, or you can edit the sections in the Shinsengumi article, and the changes will also happen in the Shinsengumi Timeline article. --Kitsuno 22:30, 22 December 2006 (PST)

Kiyohara Kiyoshi

Kiyohara Kiyoshi's other name was 武川 直枝 - Takegawa Naoe or Sugue? Or is it something else? --Kitsuno 10:27, 25 December 2006 (PST)

Naoe--Shikisoku 04:31, 26 December 2006 (PST)

Kondo Shuhei's father

What is the correct reading for: 谷三治郎 ? 名前の読み方が面倒くさい! --Kitsuno 18:24, 25 December 2006 (PST)

Kondo Shuhei(Tani Shuhei) was originaly Tani Masatake, 谷三十郎 Tani Sanjuro's little brother.--Shikisoku 04:21, 26 December 2006 (PST)

Ibaraki Tsukasa

The book 血誠新撰組-峻烈壬生浪士忠と斬 says that when Ibaraki tried to leave the Shinsengumi he was killed (新撰組の大石鍬次郎らに斬殺された). But it goes on to say that his grave states that he committed suicide. What do your books say about this? I wonder if it isn't really known exactly how he died? --Kitsuno 21:55, 26 December 2006 (PST)

Generally it is believed that Ibaraki,Sano,Tomikawa,Nakamura, those 4 members committed Seppuku together in the Aizu han residence.

But some sources say they were killed by several Shinsengumi members include Oishi. --Shikisoku 06:12, 27 December 2006 (PST)

召し抱え

What exactly does 幕府召し抱え refer to? were 召し抱え (mercenaries) different troops from the Shinsengumi? A biography for Shibayama Tokusaburou says: 1867/6/10 の幕府召し抱えで平士に名を連ねている。What exactly does this mean? --Kitsuno 21:11, 29 December 2006 (PST)

Shinsengumi were basically Ronin troop until Bakufu officialy gave them positions in 1867/6/10(Please check the Shinsengumi Chronology).--Shikisoku 05:25, 30 December 2006 (PST)

Shinsengumi "Units"

2 questions - how were the units referred to? 番組み or 番隊? And does the list of captains on the Shinsengumi page (Captains 組長) indicate which unit they lead? --Kitsuno 15:40, 30 December 2006 (PST)

Soma Tonomo AKA Soma Kazue?

Is Soma Tonomo also known as Soma Kazue? Tonomo's other names were listed as: 主計 (Kazue?) and 肇 (Hajime?) - what are the correct name readings? --Kitsuno 15:11, 30 December 2006 (PST)

Yes, Soma Tonomo is Soma Kazue. He changed the name when the Shinsengumi surrendered in Hakodate. 肇 (Hajime) is also his name but I don't know when he used the name.--Shikisoku 20:55, 4 January 2007 (PST)

Soma Kazue should be the first. Tonomo is not used commonly.--Shikisoku 00:35, 5 January 2007 (PST)

"he and Nomura Risaburô accompanied as valets and were imprisoned." - does this just mean that they were allowed to accompany Kondo before his execution? Why would they be realeased after this? --Kitsuno 23:07, 13 January 2007 (PST)

I made mistake. Soma was not the valet.--Shikisoku 23:20, 13 January 2007 (PST)

They were going to be executed. But they were spared the lives for some reason. Soma was sent to Kasama han residence. Nomura was sent to a Hatamoto's house. It's not clear how they managed to escape.--Shikisoku 23:35, 13 January 2007 (PST)

How about Risaburo? Did he accompany Kondo? His bio is the same. Although, I don't think "valet" is the right word. --Kitsuno 23:58, 13 January 2007 (PST)

Name Reading

What is the correct name reading for: 神戸四郎?

Kôbe Shirô--Shikisoku 20:56, 4 January 2007 (PST)

Name and location reading

What is the correct name reading: 権太郎 Gontaro or Kentaro? Also, does this 旧唐津藩 refer to Karatsu han in Hizen province? --Kitsuno 15:30, 30 December 2006 (PST)

I think it's Gontaro. 旧唐津藩 refer to Karatsu han in Hizen is correct.--Shikisoku 21:02, 4 January 2007 (PST)
