Kazutaka served in Chôsokabe Motochika's later campaigns on Shikoku and when Toyotomi Hideyoshi invaded the island, he was given an audience with the latter as a messenger. He served at the Battle of Hetsugigawa in Kyushu (1586) and in Hideyoshi's invasion of that island the following year, seeing action at Takajo. He went on to lead men in the 1st Korean Campaign. Following the Sekigahara Campaign (1600) he abandoned his castle and took up service with the Toda family. When Chôsokabe Morichika joined the defenders of Osaka Castle in 1614, Kazutaka accompanied him. He fought with distinction in the two Osaka Sieges but was killed in the Battle of Yao in 1615.
